At Empower Dyslexia we feel very strongly about spreading dyslexia awareness amongst educators. We can come to your school/college/centre and advise on how to identify dyslexia in a learner, how it affects their daily functioning, wider issues beyond reading and writing, as well as offering advice on useful methodologies that may help dyslexic learners in their class or learning setting.
We can offer very general CPD sessions to cover the basics and clear up some ambiguities about dyslexia within the education sector. We can also provide more specific sessions if there is a particular area that staff members feel they need more guidance on.
Coming from a primary school background, we know how hard teachers, SNAs and staff work to do the best by their pupils, we can help your staff tackle the complexities of dyslexia by informing them and giving them more tools to support their pupils.
These courses can take place either in school during Croke Park meetings or online in a webinar capacity.

Specialist Tuition Interventions - We provide one-to-one specialist interventions for children at primary school level. Each session is tailored to the learning needs of the child.
Interventions take place for 10 hours over the course of 5 weeks with two 1 hour sessions per week.
Every minute of every session is planned out based on the needs of the child in question. We use a multi-sensory approach with a variety of concrete materials and games to gain the most meaningful learning. We endeavour to adapt our teaching to the learning style of the child.

This year we have started our first 10-Week term of the Dyslexia Learning Zone, otherwise known as the DLZ. Here, we offer a fun, engaging, after-school learning setting for children from 2nd - 6th class. Activities include literacy and language games, processing exercises, reading and writing lessons and some work on motor skills. In the Dyslexia Learning Zone we strive to keep the groups as small as possible so that each child can receive the appropriate level of teacher attention for these activities.
There is a waiting list in operation for the current term, should any spaces beome available.

Our most sought after service; One hour consultations with parents about their own concerns for their child's learning and how they can support them at home. These consultations are suitable for parents considering going down the dyslexia assessment route or those who have a diagnosis for their child and want to know what to do next.
We offer consultations that will leave the parents feeling more informed and reassured, equipped with ideas and a better understanding of dyslexia along with strategies to support at home.
